Organization for Community Development (OCD) is a benevolent, non-political/partisan, not for profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) recognized provincially and nationally. OCD is working for the holistic development of marginalized segment of the society without any discrimination of caste, creed and faith. Our initiatives involve and engage grassroots communities. OCD works with the poorest, neglected, downtrodden and most excluded persons by synchronizing our synergies with organizations that represent them, in rural and urban areas. We work towards socio economic uplift of women, children, youth, and men living in poverty, social exclusion and marginalized groups. The main thrust of the organization is to facilitate communities to take collective developmental actions for social transformation. Our stakeholders include partners, allies (networks, consortiums, INGOs’ and NGOs’), supporters and donors &based on need district, provincial or federal governments.
OCD emerged as a result of the activities and initiatives under taken by a group of like-minded individuals working towards betterment and uplift of poor students from indigenous communities. The consolidated action of the founder members were materialized with the birth of OCD on Monday, November 29, 1999. An action plan was drawn in continuation of the efforts put forth by the founder members to see Acceptance, Tolerance and Peace in the communities of Pakistan. The founder’s formally got the organization registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (registration & control) ordinance, 1961 (XLVI of 1961) on April 24, 2001. Subsequently the organization was also registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860on December 13, 2004
